The silence wasn't as awkward for Kyou, as he was usually the one to initiate such silences. He couldn't very well make a good conversation right about now anyways and he wasn't going to make an ass of himself trying to; it took enough effort to sit there and suppress the annoying pain and irritation he was feeling let alone trying to talk through it. But he did notice that Audrey grew increasingly uncomfortable with the silence after he came back with a glass of water for the pills he was about to take. He eagerly, but calmly, reached for the bottle and popped three of the pills into his palm before taking the glass and downing them.
As for him suddenly looking like he was in pain compared to earlier, for him it was mostly a 'out of sight, out of mind" kind of thing, which made him sound rather retarded, but it was true. His worst pains usually came after he'd gotten back to his house to tend to his battle wounds and he'd find some he didn't even realize were there and after doctoring them they hurt like hell. His thought process was interrupted when the boy began to speak again. Of course he was surprised by the question and totally taken off guard, looking a little stunned at how seemingly random but revealing it was. He didn't speak right away; he was calm enough to do his usual thinking before opening his mouth.
Just as soon as the question was asked Audrey tried to dismiss it like he hadn't said it, but it worried Kyou. There was definitely something there that he wouldn't have known about if the kid hadn't mentioned anything, but since he'd brought attention to it the man wasn't going to just let it slide without trying to help him out with a few kind and wise words. Again he was still a tad bit too slow as the blonde tried changing the subject and Kyou merely looked at him incredulously before shaking his head.
He was quiet for a moment longer as he gathered his thoughts and words mentally before speaking. "I don't know why you'd think that there was something wrong with you because there's not," he spoke sternly, like he was lecturing a good, close friend. "I'm usually a good judge of character and I don't see anything wrong with who you are." Short lecture, but it was blunt with a serious tone to let Audrey know he wasn't kidding; he didn't often waste his breath.
Kyou wasn't exactly comfortable with the situation at this point but he remained calm and level-headed, somewhat stoic but obviously showing that he cared. He knew it would've been easier to just drop the subject like Audrey had tried to do but it would've bothered him and sat there festering in the back of him mind and that wouldn't have worked out to well. Things that bothered him over a long period of time made his mood go downhill until he got it off his chest. "Now you can wipe that fake smile off your face and put one on like you mean it and help me out here." And that 'real' smile would probably do him more good than cleaning up his wounds at this point. He raised his eyebrows up some while he spoke, making his serious expression less somber and more friendly and inviting, hoping that would help seal the deal instead of sitting there with a scowl on his face. Unfortunately, Audrey had a feeling the other wouldn't let the subject go so easily. He really should've tried harder to keep his mouth shut but the silence had been a bit unnerving. His smile faded quickly when the other gave a stern, disbelieving look. Kyou's response was a relief nevertheless, and not just because he didn't question why Audrey asked such a thing, but because the blonde had no choice to believe his words. Kyou never lied and he was clearly serious right now.
But even still, if that was the truth then why didn't anyone like him? He wouldn't worry about it anymore, not with company here, and Audrey couldn't help but smile and chuckle at the other's somewhat comforting command. "Okay, okay," he murmured good-humoredly. The boy wasn't sure if it was also because Kyou was looking at him with more gentle eyes, but he felt elated so suddenly. Audrey let the subject die down, deciding it'd be best to just show his gratitude instead of voicing it.
A trace of a smile remained on his lips as he adjusted a few things then moved to stand by Kyou's side. He hoped those painkillers had kicked in by now because this gash was pretty bad. The blonde was gentle as he worked, carefully cleaning the wound, applying excess amounts of antibiotics just in case. He covered it in a soft bandage before pulling away slightly. "Do you want me to patch this one up too?" Audrey gently prodded at the jean material covering Kyou's leg but he made sure it wasn't too close to the actual wound.
It wouldn't be so bad if the cut wasn't so close to his thigh. Kyou most likely didn't want to strip down to his underwear. He glanced up to meet the other's eyes then. There was no fight to be had, thankfully. He had the patience for it, but Audrey knew better and knew to trust him; he had no reason to lie, after all. That'd just be silly. He kept his eyes on the boy for a moment longer until he moved to start patching up the gash in his side; he only gritted his teeth at the pain, but the pills were helping at this point, otherwise he might not have been able to sit there and bear it.
One down, one to go. He shifted somewhat awkwardly when the blonde poked his leg, not because he hurt him or anything, just because his leg hurt enough to make him feel a little paranoid about it being touched. He knew Audrey wouldn't stick his finger in the wound, of course. But he was still uncomfortable with it being bothered at all. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go ahead and get it cleaned and fixed up while the offer of help was still there or if he wanted to try and limp home and do it himself. The obvious answer wasn't always the easiest to choose.
"I've already bothered you enough," he ended up saying against his better judgment. But if it was pushed further he'd give into that and just let the boy help. But he did want to get out of his hair, he shouldn't have to play nurse for Kyou. It was unneeded worry and concern when it'd only happen again, but hopefully next time Audrey wont happen to be wandering by and see him slumped down on the ground. That'd just be a damn shame and he'd hate for his young friend to be disappointed in him for fighting constantly. Audrey noticed the other's discomfort when he touched his leg so kept his hand away. Looking to him as he responded, Audrey's eyebrows raised in partial shock. He couldn't say he didn't expect for Kyou to decline, but to think he bothered him? That was ridiculous. He enjoyed the brunette's company, even now despite the condition he was in. Audrey smiled, "Kyou, don't say that. Besides, I honestly don't think you care enough to clean it properly." That's why Audrey wanted to do it, that's why he needed to. He blushed, hoping not to sound harsh or anything though that was most likely impossible. "So let me do it."
Before the brunette could really reply Audrey leaned down to prepare the antibiotics and things. There was no way he'd let Kyou leave here still bleeding. He had to admit he'd feel a little uncomfortable with the other half-naked but he was mature, he could handle it. Of course Audrey couldn't do much unless Kyou was willing so he waited, looking to the other patiently. Though there was a sternness to his features, letting the brunette know he wouldn't take no for an answer. I could be mean, I could be angry You know, I could be just like you
Kyou looked down at the boy at his comment, giving him an incredulous look. He didn't believe he'd take care of himself? That didn't make any sense, he couldn't work if he didn't fix his leg up... but he supposed he was righ to worry, he usually wouldn't bother... "Hey, I--" he paused, remembering that he liked to think before he spoke up. "I do, if I didn't...." he stopped himself before shaking his head and smiling some at himself before just giving up. "Fine. Fine, go ahead," he motioned for him to go on ahead with cleaning his leg. God that was going to hurt like a damn bitch.
He noticed that before he even gave an answer Audrey was preparing the things he needed, like he knew Kyou would just give in. Well if he had assumed such he was totally right; he couldn't exactly say no to that face, to him wanting to help so badly. He supposed he was better off with the help instead of hobbling home and biting a bullet as he tried fixing himself up haphazardly. "Um... thanks," he said after a moment, giving the blonde a look of honest appreciation. Better to have a stubborn, persistent friend than one who didn't give a flying shit about you, which mostly happened to Kyou... so Audrey being stubborn with this was a nice change and it proved to him that he was a real friend, not one who just flung around the word just cause he could.
Kyou grabbed his shirt, as if he could sense Audrey was uncomfortable with him remaining shirtless(but he couldn't) and slipped it on, carefully minding the patched up gash in his side. That was going to be a pain in the ass later. It wasn't anything he didn't know how to handle. He'd have to repay Audrey sometime. And figure out how he could do that. He'd think of something eventually.

The boy found it rather amusing when Kyou stumbled over his words at first. Of course he would end up giving in; he didn't have much of a choice. After he did what he had to do with the cleaning instruments, Audrey moved to gently lift the leg of Kyou's jean, high enough to reveal the would below his knee. It was deep. No wonder he had difficulty walking properly.
Audrey snapped out of his deep thoughts when he heard the other speak again, thanking him. Briefly, the blonde looked up to him then looked again, longer this time when he realized how grateful he seemed. Audrey couldn't help but blush and a wide smile came to his lips. "It's nothing. Just... if you get into another fight, I don't want you to get hurt at all," he murmured with a sad shake of his head. "But that's asking for a little too much, isn't it?" he said, smiling again.
He held a firm grip on Kyou's ankle, not giving a warning whatsoever as he began to dab at the wound gently. He really hoped the pain medicine was still working because he really didn't feel like getting kicked in the face.
All in all, it was a good thing Audrey wasn't squeamish. He went about quickly cleaning the last large wound then bandaging it, going at a careful, steady pace. He finished minutes later. The blonde pulled the jean material back over the bandage and back in place, going to stand with his small tools in hand. Audrey was noticeably happy now that Kyou was fixed up. "So are you craving anything in particular to eat yet?" he asked, setting the things somewhere out of their way then going to wash his hands in the kitchen sink nearby.
