He wasn't sure how he found himself here, especially since he wasn't a fan of the cold, but he supposed he missed going out to see the wonderful city of Milan. It had been a while since he visited the large park too. Seated at a bench near one of the fountains, Audrey examined his surroundings. He found there wasn't as many people, families and children as there were in the spring, or summer or fall. It was obvious why but he found it a lot nicer when it wasn't crowded. He just wished there was more greenery again than fluffy white snow.
Shifting in the cold seat in an attempt to get comfortable, Audrey frowned. It wasn't working. He finally decided to just stand and headed in the direction of the nearest lake. Luckily the snow on the ground was thin as he trudged along, bypassing a couple or two and a lone person once in a while. It was strange not seeing any dogs out today. The blonde stopped in his tracks as he finally reached the lake. His eyes, appearing even bluer in the winter, looked out upon the cold water somewhat dazed. He sighed softly, a puff of white forming in the air, and shoved his gloved hands into his pockets.
He was tired of this, of being alone everywhere he went, of seeing everyone else joined with at least one other person. But he always told himself to ignore it and be patient, even though that didn't help anything. A light touch against his jean caught his attention suddenly. Looking down, Audrey found a small black kitten—such a stark color against the snow—below and felt a smile tug at his lips, albeit a confused one. “Where in the world did you come from?” he inquired softly, leaning down before the now mewling and purring kitten.
The blonde reached to pet the soft, cold fur of its head a few times before gently lifting its chin. There was a collar around its tiny neck. “Someone must've lost you recently...” Because he sure would've seen a black blob moving through the snow earlier. Suddenly smiling big, Audrey lifted the small animal into his arms. “Well then, your owner shouldn't be too far away, hm?” He started off from the lake, heading in some random direction and hoping it was the right one. His pace was a bit slow having been preoccupied with the outgoing kitten.

WHAT IF IT MAKES YOU SAD AT ME... AND WHAT IF IT MAKES YOU LAUGH NOW BUT YOU CRY AS YOU FALL ASLEEP? A sigh slipped through his lips as he clung closely to the black kitten in his arms. Kuro seemed to want to go outside more and more each day… and it really wasn’t like he had planned anything. He glanced down at the black kitten with a soft smile before smirking slightly. The cat reminded him more of his little sister than anything else. Of course, the kitten was given and named by his sister, but the personality the cat was starting to develop reminded him of his curious girl. Kuro wasn’t a girl though… so that was the main different. He also seemed to have gained a lazy streak from Hibiki, but it seemed that whatever interests him… the kitten would get up and see or do it. That all… was also like his owner. His brow rose slightly and he stared down at the now struggling kitten. “Hold your horses ya damn cat! Your girlfriend isn’t going anywhere…” He breathed and paused to play with the kitten’s paw. Kuro pretty much gave him an annoyed look, but didn’t do anything. Hibiki continued on walking towards the park and even glanced around just to make sure there weren’t any dogs. It seemed all clear since there wasn’t any loud barks or paw-prints in the snow. Taking a deep breath, Hibiki wondered off the set paths and moved closer towards the lake before plopping down under one of the trees. Sure, he really didn’t need to hide from the sun since there pretty much wasn’t any… but trees always helped with keeping people away from him.
He finally let Kuro go after a safety check and the cat bounded a few feet before Hibiki leaned back a bit on the tree itself. The snow still covered the ground, but he didn’t mind it too much. Of course, his pants would probably be soaked by the time he got home… but again, that wasn’t in his worries at the moment. He watched his feline bound playfully in the snow. It was easy to see him all due to his black coat. The kitten slunk down on the ground before suddenly jumping up and rolling into the snow. Hibiki really couldn’t help but snicker at his kitten. After a few jumps and bounds, the kitten snuck around the tree before leaping at his owner’s leg. Hibiki blinked at him for a moment with a bit of surprise since he did come towards him on the right. His brow rose and he gave the kitten a rub who purred in return. Stretching, he pulled his arms back behind his head and started to doze off a bit. While Kuro bounded off to go play with a mischievous twig. The kitten batted at the twig a few times before trying to leap and roll onto it. Daiki watched with a bit of amusement before letting a yawn escape his lips. It wasn’t that late, but he was always the one who took naps when he could. The poor guy really didn’t have that much energy after having another argument with lovely beloved lady. The mere thought of the girl made him annoyed. Poor Jin only made the guy annoyed…
He blinked open his eyes and pretty much glanced around the place. Ehh… guess I fell asleep. “Kuro…?” he called for his little black kitten but didn’t see him in site. Panic ran into his mind and he stood up and shook the snow off of his pants. Breathing for a moment, he glanced over from right to left for any site of his baby boy. Yet, he didn’t see the black cat anywhere. Walking down the hill, he glanced over to a pale blond hair guy only too look down and see his kitten in the guys arm. “Kuro…” The kitten meowed in return to his owner’s call. An annoyed Hibiki stared at the guy with quite the questioning look. He finally looked up from Kuro to the guy. Blue… eyes… “Who… are you?” he paused and glanced down at his kitten. “And… why do you have Kuro…?”

The more he walked around the more it seemed like he was the only one here, well aside from the kitten he carried. Maybe everyone was on the other side of the park or just another area since it was pretty huge. A tall, dark figure suddenly came into view and approached Audrey, calling a foreign name in which the kitten responded to. He glanced down to the black ball of fur, noticing its body language, how it was eager to leave his arms and go to the strange man. Well I guess we found him.
But the blonde had to admit he was expecting a young woman or a little girl, or anyone who didn't look anything like the man standing before him. He looked a little cruel and intimidating and... well, not like a cat person. And that eye-patch really wasn't helping. Audrey couldn't help but stare at it in wonder, curiosity. What happened to him? He finally realized how rude he was being and quickly looked down with a blush. “I-I uhm...” It was strange how his face felt hot in such weather.
“I-I found him e-earlier and it w-wouldn't have been right to just l-leave him there.” He felt his face grow hotter—his stuttering was going crazy! It was embarrassing. He'd forgotten that he didn't even know the cat's gender, instead automatically referring to it as a male. It wasn't like the blonde could really concentrate right now anyway. He also sort of ignored the other's inquiry of his name; it wasn't like it was important at a time like this. Audrey took a deep breath in an attempt to calm down, finally looking the other in the eye and handing over his kitten gently.
“H-He should be okay. I'm sure he didn't go through m-much before he reached me.” A small smile touched his plush, pink lips finally.

WHAT IF IT MAKES YOU SAD AT ME... AND WHAT IF IT MAKES YOU LAUGH NOW BUT YOU CRY AS YOU FALL ASLEEP? He simply stared… not really thinking that it was rude or not at the guy. No matter how much he really just wanted to belittle the guy, he couldn’t. This blondie had Kuro after all… and if he did anything who knew what would happen to his cute little kitten. Annoyance really wouldn’t leave his face at the moment no matter how much he tried to calm down. He didn’t know anything about this guy… and who knows what his personality could be. Hibiki really got past judging people by their looks really quickly thanks to his ‘awesome’ family. He held his breath as the guy spoke up… but it really didn’t answer anything. His brow rose in question at the guy’s reaction. Really, was he that scary to make a grown man shutter? Finally the guy used some words that he could understand… yet, he was still shuttering. He glanced down at Kuro with a disapproving look on his face as if he was really expecting the cat to stay there even when he wasn’t watching him.
“Then… thank you,” he mumbled out even though he seriously didn’t. Sure, Hibiki was actually thankful, but it just wasn’t like him to actually thank someone. Damn cat… Of course, he’d blame all his problems on the innocent cat who simply was being a normal cat. His eyes narrowed slightly as he noticed the other’s red face. Ehh… the cold… maybe? Shrugging it off, he nodded as he handed over Kuro. Hibiki, even though he was annoyed with that cat, let out a sigh of relief and gave the kitten a rub under the chin. “Stupid cat…” he mumbled out with a small smile on his lips… pretty much forgetting that there was an actual person standing in front of him. His tensed up muscles relaxed a bit and he really just felt calm again knowing that the kitten was in his arms. He played around with his paw again, but glanced up as the guy spoke again. Although, Hibiki slightly wanted to snap at him and ask why he was even still there… he really couldn’t treat his kitten’s savior like that.
“Mmm… he looks okay to me,” he paused for a moment before shifting his weight slightly. “Hey… do you want to go get some coffee or something in return…? For saving him… I mean.”

Audrey's smile gradually began to subside, seeing as the man never cracked a smile or any sort of emotion aside from annoyance. He wasn't stupid, he could easily read people. His suspicions only stood corrected when Hibiki thanked him in a very unthankful and reluctant tone. Audrey nodded, afraid his voice would falter if he spoke. He placed his hands into his pockets and took a few steps back, ready to turn around and leave until he heard the man speak up again.
Well he certainly hadn't been expecting that and it was pretty obvious. Nevertheless, his eyes lit up as he turned back around, a delicate hand reaching up to run nervously through his blonde locks. Go for coffee? Audrey honestly preferred hot chocolate but that would be known when they got to the café. “Y-You really mean it?” Even though he didn't know the man, he knew this must've been a miracle; his features were still uptight. “That sounds great. Come on!” Audrey was by his side in seconds, suddenly very excited, and he gently grabbed onto Hibiki's arm like a school girl would to her boyfriend.
With a big smile, he tugged them off in the direction of the park's exit. “Since we're going out together, I should at least know your name. I'm Audrey.”

WHAT IF IT MAKES YOU SAD AT ME... AND WHAT IF IT MAKES YOU LAUGH NOW BUT YOU CRY AS YOU FALL ASLEEP? Shifting his weight, his eyes narrowed at the kitty savior as he watched his reaction to the invite. Really, he wouldn’t mind going along with the guy, but he also kind of hoped that the blue eyed guy would just refuse and go along with his own business. His brow raised the guy actually agreed to going along with him… a pure stranger, but he couldn’t take back the invite or anything. Glancing down, he stared at Kuro for a moment. They could go along and go to some café, but really… the luck would be out if it isn’t a café that accepted cats. He glanced up again as he heard the guy’s voice again, he mumbled and nodded his head not really expecting anything to happen. Though, Hibiki was surprised as he grabbed onto his arm all of a sudden. Not only was he shocked, he was a bit… nervous about someone else touching him. Well, he probably would have thought nothing of it if it was a girl, but… a guy? It was something he never really thought of. He didn’t say anything, but he didn’t look very comfortable either. Too… close…
Really, Hibiki wanted to shake the poor guy’s gasp off of him, but he didn’t even flinch. He only walked along with the guy. It wasn’t like him to be so accepting of any clingy actions, but he couldn’t raise his hand against him either. A muffled sigh escaped his lips. This guy was just… too cheerful for him to do anything. Yeah, Hibiki just blamed it all on the cheerful glow… nice. Truly, he wanted to just go along with frowning, but even he found it difficult not to smile. The sides of his lips twitched a bit as he held onto Kuro and glanced over towards his guest… only to glance away and stare ahead of them. He glanced over towards him again as he began to talk. Audrey… huh… “Hibiki,” he amused with a slight smile starting to show on his lips. Suddenly, he felt the strange urge to ruffle Audrey’s hair… which was pretty much a bad habit he had when he was around his sister. His eyes narrowed once more and he gave the guy a good stare. … nah.
He slowed as they reached the café with a slight frown on his lips. They could pretty much only sit outside due to the fact that Kuro was with them and… it was cold. No one was sitting outside and the only other people walking along were pretty much going along to another store and what not. Though, Hibiki felt slightly awkward with having Audrey clinging to his arm… like a lover would do. He couldn’t help but stare at him again. He… is a guy… right…? Though, once he found himself staring… he turned away from him with a slight blush starting to form on his cheeks. Why… am I blushing?! Thank god for Hibiki since it was cold. Walking over towards one of the tables, he plopped down on one of the chairs with Kuro meowing in protest to the sudden movement away from his savior. “Ehh… sorry we have to sit outside, but… order whatever you want.”

The boy had to admit, he kind of expected for the man to pull away or say something about their close contact but it was a relief he didn't. The brunette didn't even flinch or cringe or anything. Audrey wasn't complaining though, his hold remaining around the other's arm as they headed off for a nearby café. He himself had no idea why he was so touchy with strangers today, particularly this cute one, but since it didn't seem to bother Hibiki it didn't bother him.
His thoughts shifted when the other spoke his name and his thin eyebrows furrowed in a curious expression. Hibiki? Why did that sound... like a certain familiar nationality? Because it most likely was. It seemed he had a thing for guys mixed with Japanese. The boy's gaze shifted over to the cat in Hibiki's arms then finally up to the man himself, spotting an oddly calm look on his face. Was that... a smile too? Maybe it was just Audrey's imagination but the brunette didn't seem like the type to look this way. Like earlier, when they first met and spoke to each other Hibiki shot him a very annoyed, intimidated look. He wondered what was with the sudden change but of course wouldn't complain.
They reached the café within a matter of minutes -- that was one of the upsides of living in a city -- and by then the cold was starting to get to Audrey. His features were pale and his nose and cheeks almost as bright as if he were blushing. He hated winter. When his gaze shifted to the cat once again, he could spot the man in the corner of his eye looking at him and quickly shifted his gaze to him instead, just as he looked away. Hibiki's cheeks were flushed too, the poor guy. Suddenly he pulled away from the boy's hold and headed for a table, almost frowning at the loss of warmth. It was going to be torture sitting out here!
He wouldn't complain though. Audrey headed for the same table and sat, looking very stiff as he did so. His arms wrapped around himself in a horrible attempt to keep warm. Despite his obvious discomfort though, he kept a smile on at the fact he had some company today. “Hibiki, you're so quiet. Why don't you tell me about... Kuro here,” he reached over to pet the adorable kitten just then. “Since you don't seem like a cat person to me.” Or a people person. But he had a strange fondness about this cat that Audrey was curious about.

WHAT IF IT MAKES YOU SAD AT ME... AND WHAT IF IT MAKES YOU LAUGH NOW BUT YOU CRY AS YOU FALL ASLEEP? He flinched at the sudden cold and annoyed look flashed onto his features once more. Even he wished he didn’t have to sit out here. His eyes glanced down toward Kuro who seemed to have stopped complaining and just curled onto his lap. He, however, knew he’d have to at least keep a better eye on him. Really, he was lucky that Audrey was around and nice enough to pick up Kuro. A bitter sigh escaped his lips as he leaned back a bit in the chair… which was as cold as hell, but it would be okay for now. He glanced over towards the kitty savior as he asked about Kuro. It must be his appearance that kept him from being known as the animal person. Truly, he loved animals even though he never really acted like it. His brow rose a bit, but he didn’t question to why Audrey decided to go along with Kuro as their next subject. Shrugging his shoulders, he tried to relax his tensed up shoulders. Talking would be a good try at relaxing, but he really didn’t know how much it would help. Sorry for being so quiet.
“Kuro… was a gift,” he paused slightly annoyed. “I got him as a birthday present this year from my sister and she named him Kuro.” That was all he could really say about the kitten… he hadn’t had him for very long at all, but he already became attached to him. A calm look replaced his semi-annoyed look. He remembered the huge grin his sister had when she passed Kuro over to him with a girly ribbon and all. Of course, he had given her a scowl of displeasure… but his sister always snuck past his wall. He scratched his eyebrow and glanced towards the side instead of looking at Audrey. If anyone found out about his sister complex… well, he’d not only be embarrassed but the news would go to Jin probably too. Jin…? Hmm… It had been awhile since he saw his lady… since meeting her really. She just up and disappeared. His shoulders tensed up again. “He’s lazy… but playful and curious.” Kuro just got his bad habits from Hibiki’s laziness.
His brow rose as he turned back towards Audrey in pure curiosity. “Do… do you have any pets?” He had a slight frown on his face, but it was more of an embarrassed frown. His love for animals was really a weakness he didn’t like so much. Though, once he actually looked towards Audrey, he noticed his red cheeks and pale skin. He shifted a bit and grabbed Kuro and pretty much put the cat on Audrey’s lap without even asking permission. His own legs started to tremble slightly in the cold, but at least Kuro could keep his guest a bit warm. “He’s… a good lap warmer…” Hibiki seriously didn’t know why he was even being so kind to the guy. Usually he would just keep Kuro all to himself. Maybe… I feel indebt to him? Ugh. His thoughts were pretty much all jumbled up, but that really didn’t matter right now.

As Audrey waited for the man to respond, he briefly watched the mist of their breaths travel into the air. It was too clear to see, almost like a cloud, which meant that it was really cold out. He couldn't believe he was out here in this weather. Audrey never let himself stay outside in the winter for more than five minutes because his body just couldn't handle it. He had no idea how he was putting up with it now, but he knew why. Hibiki must've been freezing too though, so why were they doing this to themselves? The blonde put aside his major discomfort for now as the other spoke up.
A smile lit his features as Hibiki mentioned a past birthday and he couldn't help but chime in. “Oh, happy belated birthday!” He wasn't one to celebrate his own really, he didn't see the point in it, but it was a different story when it came to other people. His smile subtly remained despite the other rarely smiling, especially noticing how much he cared for Kuro, in general. It really wasn't a first impression Hibiki gave off and the blonde thought it was sort of cute, masking his softer side and all. He couldn't help but wonder why he did. Kind of reminded him of Kyou, when he first found the man wounded. He'd stated constantly that he was fine, he was used to it, he could handle it, and sometimes Audrey found himself believing it.
He'd put on such a good front, but there were moments when he saw through him. A gleam of sadness came to the boy's eyes having been reminded of his friend's long absence, and he quickly pulled himself together, warmth radiating off his smile. His body began to tremble suddenly and he held tighter onto himself. “I don't,” Audrey replied with a sad shake of his head. “I've always wanted to but I work too much. I wouldn't be able to spend much time with 'em.” There were other kinds of pets that didn't need as much quality time as a cat or dog, like a reptile, but Audrey was always set on a cat or dog.
Audrey was thrown off when Hibiki shifted suddenly, a very warm furball of a cat soon set into his own lap instead. His blue eyes widened as they shifted down to Kuro, running a pale hand over the soft coat before glancing back to Hibiki.
“He's... a good lap warmer...”
The boy pulled on a very sweet, grateful smile, so tempted to just wrap his arms around the other in a big hug or kiss him on the cheek. That most likely wouldn't've been taken so well. Audrey had to remind himself every now and then that everyone wasn't gay. “Thanks,” he said finally. It certainly wasn't a lie about Kuro being a good lap warmer; the only place he didn't feel numb now was on his lap. He lazily pet the cat while his gaze shifted back to its owner, noticing he himself wasn't the only one trembling. He frowned.
“Hibiki. I really like the idea of going to a nice, cozy café with you...” He looked around the area, emphasizing the point that they weren't exactly nice and cozy or technically inside a cafe. “But I'd also really like to not die of hypothermia.” He was pretty sure Hibiki didn't want to either. The boy scooted toward the edge of the seat carefully with Kuro in his lap. “I'll get us something warm to drink then we'll go to the pet store. It's close, it's warm, and we're all allowed in.” He smiled, pulling the kitten into his arms as he stood to hand him gently to Hibiki.
“What do you want?” he asked. Pulling out the wallet from his back pocket, Audrey checked to see how much money he'd brought. Of course it was enough but just in case they wanted something extra later on.
