( MAKE ME FEEL IT ONE MORE TIME )with your heart( RATHER THAN WITH TECHNIQUE )• • • • • • • • • “Today's the day!” she shouted, hopping up on her tippy toes as she tore open the letter that came mere seconds ago. A big grin settled on her lips, Kasumi finally got it open and unfolded the piece of paper quickly. She didn't have to read very much; within the first few sentences, her assigned butler was mentioned and when her big brown eyes scanned over the date he would arrive, an excited squeal left her. “Oh my gosh! I can't wait!” She looked to see if there might've been a particular time mentioned but unfortunately there wasn't. “Oh no! What if he's on his way right now?” It was time to get to work. But what would she do?
What should she do? She had to celebrate his arrival one way or another but how? “Uh... uhm,” she hummed in rushed thought, pacing back and forth now in the living room. Kasumi stopped suddenly, glancing around the area. Well there wasn't much here. Maybe they could go out and celebrate, then. “Oh, I hope he's not too modest about it.” Because this was really important to Kasumi; she'd finally have company to keep her from being bored all the time.
The girl headed in the direction of the kitchen, setting down the paper and envelope somewhere on the counter and going to check the refrigerator and cabinets. Maybe there was some chocolate lying around, preferably cake, but she highly doubted it. In the meantime she snacked on chocolate flavored pocky she'd found in the cabinet, pacing back and forth again in deep thought. “Such a short notice... I'm too nervous and excited to think! Let alone think of something super spectacular for him.” Kasumi was already making plans with someone she hadn't even met yet. That probably wasn't a good habit.

{ that was a conversation you took nothing from, } SO RAISE YOUR GLASS NOW, { let's celebrate exactly what you've done } He reopened the envelope, glancing over it once again. Even though he only received it the night before, he had already memorized the dorm and name of the lady. And not to mention, the day he had to get to her. Which, of course, was today. Perhaps he should have been nervous, anticipating what his lady was like, what tasks he would be required to complete to be worthy of serving at Stella Fiore. But his mind was rather blank, at least for the time being. Tightening his white gloves, though not too much, he made his way into the halls. His sister's locket remained safely in his pocket while his family's heirloom, that unique, thin black string was loosely but securely tied 'round his neck.
Keeping the envelope in hand, Suoh started to pick up the pace, creating a line between current speed and leisure pace. Tutti e Due, room four. It wasn't exactly a while before he reached it, and as he observed the door, now beginning to contemplate his new part of life, the faintest smile came to his lips. Memories flashed by, normally painful - but at the moment, they played harmlessly. He would deal with them later.
Perhaps he hesitated. He wasn't sure. But even if he did, he swiftly regained himself. Reaching out to the door, he shifted so that the back of his hand faced the door. Using his knuckles, he lightly knocked, soft enough to not shock anyone, and loud enough to not be thought of as an imagined sound. Taking a step back, one quite small step, he could hear footfalls, as well as the faint sound of munching. Munching on something rather crunchy, at that. The faintest chuckle escaped his lips.
He began to wonder about who his lady was; he had hardly seen any ladies since he arrived here. But, after a moment, he decided to allow his mind to rest and relax. His questions would be answered soon enough.

( MAKE ME FEEL IT ONE MORE TIME )with your heart( RATHER THAN WITH TECHNIQUE )• • • • • • • • • Kasumi decided that pacing around wasn't helping much, only making her even more restless, so she went to sit in the nearby living room. The box of deliciously flavored pretzel sticks was still grasped in her hand as she reclined in one of the sofas. Perhaps munching on something small helped her nerves. She barely had another minute to think before a knock at the door reached her ears, causing her to almost choke on the piece she'd been chewing on. She closed the container quickly and shot up from her seat, tossing it on the couch, and rushed for the front door. “I'm coming,” she announced happily on the way.
Not wanting to seem too eager, Kasumi unlocked the door and opened it at a natural pace but couldn't stop herself from flinging her arms around the man. “You're here, you're here!” She gave a brief hug then pulled away, looking up to him afterward with a big smile. “I've been waiting for so long since they assigned me a butler that was already assigned to someone else and it took forever for them to get it right,” she breathed, “but you're finally here! I'm so happy.” Now that she wasn't anxious and nervous about meeting her butler anymore, the girl could think a little more clearly now.
“Oh!” She stepped back and off to the side to allow Suoh enough space to enter. “I almost forgot; come in!” It was now she took this time to examine the man. He was quite handsome, albeit a little emotionless, but so far it was hard to really tell his personality considering she hadn't given him much of a chance to speak yet. “What's your name?” Kasumi inquired in a lighthearted tone, tilting her head the slightest. “I read it in the letter but I'm afraid I might pronounce it wrong.”

{ that was a conversation you took nothing from, } SO RAISE YOUR GLASS NOW, { let's celebrate exactly what you've done } When the door unlocked and opened at a natural pace, he figured he was going to have a rather calm, cool lady. But, no - the girl, probably a head or so shorter than him, flung herself around him. His facial features expressed his surprise, and he nearly stumbled, but managed to keep his balance. A soft chuckle escaped him, and he nearly laughed, soft smile returning as she exclaimed of his presence. Once she was off, he examined her, concluding that she was someone he didn't mind. Someone he might really enjoy being the butler of, actually. His smile slightly grew - and then he listened to her rushed words.
A light laugh escaped his lips when she finished, and he gave a faint bow. "A pleasure to meet and serve you, my lady," his tone was gentle and smooth, even though it hid a rather harmless - to others, at least - darkness. It took him a moment as well to realize he had not entered the dorm yet, and so, when she stepped aside, he snapped to that realization. Nodding at her invitation to enter, he gave a slight nod before taking a few leisured steps in, his emeralds scanning the living room and kitchen. He took a liking to what he saw.
Neutral colors, and a very comfortable, home like feeling. No doubt, he would like to live and serve here. Though he felt as if she were canvassing him - which, for some reason, he normally could tell when someone was doing so - he continued to observe the place with little movement. Turning on a heel to face her as her vocal chords worked, he took one step back and gave a half bow, keeping it as he responded, "Ah, yes - I am Suoh. Soo - Oh." Perhaps the repeat with more prominent pronunciation was unneeded - but it didn't matter. A response was a response.
Straightening up, he watched her, before speaking again; "Kasumi," he tested the name upon his tongue, slowing it down to make the pronunciation more prominent again, "Is the pronunciation correct?"

( MAKE ME FEEL IT ONE MORE TIME )with your heart( RATHER THAN WITH TECHNIQUE )• • • • • • • • • It made her happy to see the other was already content here, with her, laughing and smiling. Hopefully it would stay that way because she knew she could eventually get to someone and strike a nerve, which would not be good if they were going to be living together for a whole year. Before he entered, Kasumi watched with shining eyes as he bowed and spoke in a rather dreamy tone. She always found it cute, almost even romantically cute, when they bowed and showed so much respect, and it made her all warm and fuzzy inside hearing 'my lady'. She could finally say she had a butler.
Her hands settled lightly upon her tinted cheeks, partly attempting to hide the blushing, as she watched Suoh straightened and head inside. She closed the door behind him, turning around as well to find he was examining the area. She quietly applauded the sensible side of her brain when it said not to paint these walls baby blue or pink, too. Kasumi's hands were soon back by her sides only for them to rest on her cheeks again when Suoh bowed a second time, though a partial one.
She listened intently to the other's pronunciation of his name and nodded in understanding, nodding again more enthusiastically when he asked of her own name. “Indeed it is, Suoh,” she replied, testing out his aloud. That was what she originally thought when she read it in the letter but it never hurt to make sure. “And now that introductions are out of the way,” Kasumi began with a grin, “we can--” Her voice trailed off when she suddenly realized something, looking confused. “Hey, don't you have any luggage? Or anything at all?”
She frowned slightly. “I guess I'll just have to buy you some clothes myself. You'd look ridiculous walking into casual places dressed like that and believe me, we'll be going to a lot of casual places.” She obviously wasn't the type to just sit around after all. “Especially today! Because I want to celebrate you finally being here,” she beamed, taking a step closer to her butler. “It's your choice though on where you want to go today.” Then she asked the ultimate question. “So where do you want to go today?”

{ that was a conversation you took nothing from, } SO RAISE YOUR GLASS NOW, { let's celebrate exactly what you've done } At first, he was rather glad to see her enthusiasm - but when she trailed off, it concerned him. He nearly tilted his cranium, but resisted; instead, he only allowed a faint spark of concern flash through his emeralds. Her question brought him faint relief; nothing severe. He nearly chuckled again, the smile returning to grace his lips. "I am afraid not."
Once she frowned slightly, his facial features shifted to form an expression that seemed to say, Don't frown, don't be upset. Then, he actually did tilt his apex at her words. Her, shopping for him? Well, that was rather odd. He never had that happen before; then again, he had never been an official butler of a lady in his life. Only to his family, somewhat. But he cut his train of thought from that track, returning to the situation at hand.
Obviously, she didn't like to just sit around and appear pretty; he could tell he was definitely going to like following her around. Staying still was never really his thing. And then, taking him by surprise, she brought up the subject of them going out to celebrate his arrival. For a moment, he was perfectly motionless, watching Kasumi with a spark of surprise returning to his optics. He could tell she meant it, but it took a moment to register; after all, nothing like this came close to occurring before.
Faintly shaking himself to regain his mind, his gaze ascended, as if in thought. Where did he want to go? He had never really left this building once he came, only heard of what was outside. Never had anything but descriptions and imagery to go by. So where? He flicked through the details he had received by listening to others.
Had he taken a while? He hoped not. But, truth be told, he probably took a couple or so moments to fish out the place he felt was the most suitable. Not just for him, but also for her, to spend their small celebrating. "Well, though I have never been outside this building since I arrived.. I have heard of this mall.. Is that fine?"

( MAKE ME FEEL IT ONE MORE TIME )with your heart( RATHER THAN WITH TECHNIQUE )• • • • • • • • • She'd caught the look of surprise on the man's features when she explained their reason for going out, her smile growing wider. He certainly hadn't expected that now did he? She awaited a reply, pulling on a strange look when a long silence stretched out between them. Suoh must've been one indecisive person because that was an unusually long pause. It was soon explained why and she nearly pouted at the fact he hadn't gotten to explore around yet! Wait a minute, then where was he from?
Curious, she couldn't help but voice it. “You mean you haven't been in the town, ever? Then where did you come from?” Her big, happy-go-lucky smile returned then. “It's an even better reason to go out! And the mall is perfect.” They could go shop for him and do everything else they wanted, too. Reaching gently for his hand, Kasumi tugged at in an attempt to get him to follow, heading in the direction of the back rooms. “C'mon, Suoh! I need to grab a few things before we leave, and while I do that you can look around some more.”
She released his hand when she was sure he was following. “I left your room white since I didn't know what colors you like. So sometime this week just let me know and we can get your room painted up! Okay?” Kasumi felt that a room with the right feel made everything so much better, because that was your own room, your own personal sanctuary and you should be very at home and comfortable in it. And colors made all the difference.
They had to part along the way for Kasumi to go to her room, roaming through her closet and drawers for a whole new outfit. It was way too cool outside for what she was currently wearing.

{ THAT WAS A CONVERSATION... } .. YOU TOOK NOTHING FROM SO RAISE YOUR GLASS NOW, LET'S CELEBRATE EXACTLY WHAT YOU'VE DONE. JUST PUT OFF ANOTHER DAY OF KNOWING WHERE YOU'RE FROM. YOU CAN CATCH UP WITH YOURSELF IF YOU RUN. Ah, beautiful curiosity. He listened to her first, his smile faintly increasing inside as she continued to speak. "I'm from the States," he replied rather flatly - but not as flat as he normally was; it held a hint of amusement. He liked her personality; it would help him forget all his fears and such of being a butler. As she began to tug at his hand after taking it, he quickly began to walk briskly after her, his emeralds occasionally flickering to different areas, just to get the place nearly memorized before going out.
When she released his hand, he took a split second pause, before continuing to follow, listening to her speak. His smile grew more sincere. Despite knowing she probably wouldn't see his nod, he still gave a civil nod, also responding verbally, "I'll make sure to do so." In that moment, he began to ponder the colors he would prefer. There was a wide variety of colors he would love, ranging from a ceiling of navy blue and walls of slate gray with stars along them, to a ceiling of sky blue and a scenery of a field. But he probably would go with a simpler one. Perhaps navy walls with sky blue ceiling?
He broke off from thought as he had to pause outside her room and wait; it was all the most proper and such. Turning away from the door, he continued to examine the area, his mind wandering. For some reason, he couldn't help but think about how life really would be like now. Simple and sweet? Complicated but pleasant? Perhaps one could say he was overly curious; he wouldn't disagree, really.
Unconsciously tightening his gloves, he took a sidestep closer to the door. "Lady Kasumi - is it alright for me to request a.. tour, through the mall and streets from you?" Perhaps he should have waited until she was done changing - but, he couldn't help it. He realized that his curiosity also wanted him to see as much as they possibly could, to the mall and back.

( MAKE ME FEEL IT ONE MORE TIME )with your heart( RATHER THAN WITH TECHNIQUE )• • • • • • • • •
She continued to rummage through her things, grumbling here and there, before finally deciding on something and changing into it. She'd almost forgotten about her butler already until he spoke up, realizing that he was close to the door. How long was he standing there? Kasumi knew she should've felt embarrassed for being half-naked and easily seen by Suoh if he took another few steps to the side, but she didn't. Maybe for the fact she knew Suoh was gentlemanly or for the fact she just didn't care.
The young girl stopped her movements momentarily - a shirt pulled halfway over her head - to hear the other, smiling wide when he referred to her as Lady Kasumi. She refrained from squealing. "Sure thing, Suoh!" Pulling it over her head, she reached for her coat. "That's kinda what I was planning, to be honest." Kasumi finished up, brushing her hair and retying the ribbons, before heading out of her room to Suoh, giving him one big look-over and a thoughtful expression. Hmm. What's a good style for him... She'd have enough time to think that over on the way.
"You ready?" Before she could give the guy time to reply let alone think, Kasumi was grabbing onto his hand and leading them out the front door like an eager child. Well, she was an eager child. "So what part?" she questioned suddenly, thinking back to when Suoh announced where he was from. She glanced up at him with big, smiling and curious eyes. "Or, what state? I'm from Cali~"

YOU CAN CATCH UP WITH YOURSELF IF YOU RUN. A light smile flickered upon his lips, gracing his features, at her response. He was going to enjoy this, most probably. Her enthusiasm brought the brightest light to his life; truly, nothing really matched up to this kind of bright enthusiasm, except for his sister. He remembered her very well; her smile, her optimism - it all gave him hope. And now, his hope paid off; now, things weren't so dark. He just knew things would work out - and it was going to begin today, the moment they begin to connect.
When she looked him over, he felt his spark of curiosity return. Almost tilting his cranium, he wondered what she was thinking, what she was possibly concluding. But he shook himself lightly, as she inquired if he was prepared. Flashing his smile, he responded, "Yes, m'lady."
Once Kasumi grasped his hand, Suoh quickly began to walk with her, hoping to spare her any need to drag him along. She almost reminded him of his dear sister; a bit more lively and enthusiastic, but still similar. Thankfully, there were no bad memories - except for the times she grew gravely ill, or her passing. But he was past that; it was behind him, and he wasn't going to allow reminiscence to ruin his new life.
At her abrupt question, he nearly cast her a surprised glance. California? He remembered as a child, wanting to know more of the state, where the famous Hollywood rested upon the Earth. Blinking, his memory returned to the past, where his life was neutral and easily livable without worry and uncertainty. "I lived in New York."
