Naruto: Believe It!
For years now the Akatsuki group has been trying to catch the bijū, the tailed beasts sealed in normal humans. With each passing year they have become even closer to reaching their mysterious goal known only to them and their subordinates.
However, five years ago they were temporarily put in a standstill when Uzumaki Naruto vanished into thin air. Where did he go? Some believed that he had died, and that Konoha's Godaime Hokage, Tsunade had covered it up. Others believed that he had ran, too afraid to remain in the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
The real answer? He went off with the Gama Sannin, Jiraiya-shishou in order to become stronger. However, due to the Ero-sannin's ways, it has taken much longer than either of the two predicted. At the beginning Jiraiya-shishou believed that it would take about three years. However, five years later, they have still not returned to Konoha.
While this was happening Haruno Sakura continued her training with Tsunade-sama, quickly becoming one of the head medics for the villages.
And Uchiha Sasuke? No one really knows. It is believed that he still trains with Orochimaru-sama in the Otogakure no Sato, the Village Hidden in Sound. But as with Naruto, nothing is certain. For all anyone knows, he could have left Orochimau.

As of late the various Hidden Villages have been recruiting members from non-shinobi villages, trying to gain "strength in numbers". This is all due to a rumor that has been slowly making its way across the nations.
It is said in frightened whispers that those who are known to be dead are being spotted once more, alive and well. Nobody knows if the rumors are true or not, but the villages are worried all the same that something big; something terrible, is about to happen. So they are preparing, getting ready the only way they know how in order to face whatever may or may not happen.
What will happen is anyone's guess.
