He supposed he came here to think about things and calm down, which usually wasn't very often, but lately it seemed like he'd been coming here at least three times a week. Of course he had to keep in mind his work schedule, so it was really a lot of visits. The boy continued through the snow at a slow and relaxed pace, eyes downcast. The park was really nice during winter, especially since there weren't a lot of people out, so he didn't have to worry about others ruining the peace and quiet. Stopping suddenly, the blonde lifted his gaze to the sunset view.
It looked breathtaking with the sun's orange rays reflecting onto the water's surface. Yet still, his eyes watched the scene with a look of worry, a gleam of sadness. Audrey had hoped even the cold weather would take his mind off of his long-lost friend. He hadn't been given a warning or anything. It was just so sudden. After the first few days of not seeing him he knew something must've happened, and it really didn't help that the last time he saw Kyou he was bruised and bloodied. Audrey had been worried for so long and it was really starting to get to him.
A warm tear slipped down his cheek and quickly brought him back to reality. Blinking, the blonde reached up with a sleeve to wipe away the tears that wouldn't stop. “What do I do...” Should he wait a little longer? Before going into town to find out any contact information, if he could. He needed to do something. The boy strolled over to a nearby tree and leaned against it, instead of sitting on the cold snow, his eyes dazed as they watched the water.

I could be mean, I could be angry You know, I could be just like you
He was a terrible man. He knew that. Nobody had to spell it out for him, tell him that he was a bad man because he had told himself that years before anyone had figured it out. And he felt so bad about his sudden leave, probably leaving his only friend in a panic about what had happened. He was lucky that way... Audrey was too, he supposed. And the majority of the time he was gone he thought about how shitty he was and about how Audrey was doing.
But he'd made it back in mostly one piece and what had happened would remain shrouded in enigmatic mystery. Kyou had thought about heading by Audrey's place to see him, but thought against it. Secretly chickening out. But he couldn't help it, he knew Audrey would have a fit when he saw him. He could have been in worse shape, of course, but he couldn't hide that big healing gash on his left cheek. He had a bunch of other smaller cuts and bruises well hidden under his clothes and he took an extra measure of precaution by covering those with casual bandages and one with a wristband.
You know, just in case.
The bar tender had walked to the park just to clear his head and was quickly met with what he was trying to clear his head of. Good timing, he supposed... as much as he wanted to leave the blonde alone he couldn't turn around and leave without feeling even worse. He ran a hand through his hair, snagging some hairs with the old bandaids he had on several fingers. He needed to remember to replace those when he got home.
And so, he'd made up his mind and coolly began heading over toward the boy who was leaning against a tree; his converses crunched the snow beneath them as he walked. "Audrey," he called casually, like he'd just seen the boy the day before. Act cool, wipe that guilty look off your stupid face. Be cool.

He wiped away the last of his tears, or so he thought, before his gaze shifted from the lake to the snow below. He nearly jumped at the call of his name, quickly glancing over in the direction the voice came from. It sounded so familiar but at the same time his memory was hazy. He didn't have to think for long before his eyes met his brunette friend standing not too far away. Audrey blinked a few times before it sunk it, thin eyebrows shifting upward in a surprised expression. Was that really Kyou? Or was he starting to hallucinate?
Audrey pushed himself from against the tree, walking carefully in the other's man direction. His vision suddenly become distorted as a mass of new tears rolled down his cheeks. "Kyou?" he finally spoke, sounding disbelieving. "You're really back?" Audrey didn't even have a chance to examine the other, his body moving on its own accord as he approached the brunette and threw his arms around him. "Why didn't you tell me you were leaving..." The blonde buried his features into the other's shoulder and finally gave in, sobbing quietly. He'd been holding it in for way too long.
Suddenly Audrey pulled away and pushed at Kyou's chest, a gleam of anger in his tear filled eyes. "You have no idea how worried I was!"

I could be mean, I could be angry You know, I could be just like you
Well this was thoroughly upsetting. Kyou's expression faltered for a mere moment before he covered it back up as quick as it came. He didn't have the chance to say anything before the younger boy had clung onto him and his stomach flipped some. Mostly because he'd gone and made the poor kid cry. Christ he really was a bad man. "I--" he started to try and explain, though his explanation would be anything but what it should be-- an explanation.
He was cut off by Audrey pushing himself away suddenly, turning angry eyes up at him. It wasn't a look fit for him by any means, and neither were those tears. When the boy had come forward and hugged him he'd lightly grabbed his arms and still kept a hold of them as he backed off, looking down at him with a look that did more than apologize. "I'm sorry, Audrey."
It was all he could really say; he couldn't go telling him about what had happened, he didn't want to lessen his opinion of him. "I didn't mean to-- it wasn't up to me," he finally said after a moment, hoping that this would suffice even a little... it was far from telling of what happened, but he'd obviously gotten into some trouble that had caused him to leave without a word.
"Besides, didn't I tell you not to worry about me? I can take care of myself." He said this a little more sternly, eying the blonde boy. If he couldn't he would've been dead long before now and he had the scars to prove how many close calls he'd come back from. This was no different. "I'm back now. Stop crying," he said, though it sounded like more of a request. He lifted a hand and put it to Audrey's cheek and wiped away the tears with his thumb and giving him a soft look that repeated what he'd requested.

His eyes almost immediately softened when they glanced up to Kyou's, seeing how fondly he was looking at him. His heart skipped and his tears gradually stopped at the request, a few stray ones streaming their way down his pale face. His gaze remained on the other's breathtaking blues, almost in a trance, until he felt the other's hand release his arm to press against his cheek. His cheeks grew warm with a rosy tint and his eyes fluttered shut at the many sensations that hit all at once.
When Audrey opened his eyes this time his vision was back to normal. He instantly spotted the gash on Kyou's cheek and sighed. "You don't want to tell me what happened, do you?" he asked, though it sounded more like a statement than anything. His answers had been so vague. Audrey didn't mind much though, he was just happy his friend was back. He adverted his gaze briefly as his hand reached up to rest on the other's, expression blank. Audrey wasn't sure what to think; it was difficult to with so many emotions going through him.
His gaze shifted back just then. "I really wish you'd stop getting more injuries every time I see you." But that was too much to ask for, wasn't it? Even though he knew Kyou could fend for himself, it still hurt Audrey every time to see the evidence of a fight in the form of bruises and cuts. That was Kyou for you. A sad smile formed on his lips at that. "I missed you."

I could be mean, I could be angry You know, I could be just like you
Kyou knew he couldn't have been luckier in befriending this young guy; he was sweet and caring and just about everything he really needed in a friend. Not to mention he was just cute. He couldn't help but smile very softly at how easy it was to make Audrey blush. At this point it was definitely more than obvious to the brunette that Audrey had a big crush on him, but he didn't act on it. It was returned on his half in a less obvious way, but the more time he spent with the boy the more it grew.
He finally nodded his head at the question; he wished he could be honest with Audrey, but it'd probably give the poor kid a heart attack knowing what happened to him constantly. Not to mention further his paranoia, which he didn't want to do at all. "You needn't worry about it," he responded quietly as he shifted weight from one leg to the other. When Audrey placed his hand on his own he removed it from his blushing cheek to take hold of Audrey's gently, squeezing it lightly to bring his attention back up to his face. "Promise me you'll stop worrying." And again his expression became slightly more serious, but the tone remained that of a request more than a demand for a promise.
Kyou couldn't think of a response to what he said next; he sort of wished that himself, but he doubted he could rid himself of the habit of getting into fights. It was practically his only way of getting rid of stress, as completely unsafe as it was. He did smile more noticeably at the last comment and nodded, "I missed you too. I won't do it again." He'd make sure of that.

Audrey felt a little embarrassed letting his affection for the other man show so easily, but it didn't seem like he minded one bit. In fact, when Kyou reached to hold onto his hand instead, the boy could've sworn whatever this feeling was between them was... almost mutual. His cheeks began to grow hotter to his dismay and he glanced up from their hands, looking into the other's eyes. As much as he'd love to keep that promise with Kyou Audrey knew he couldn't. He smiled softly but his eyes showed sadness.
"I'll never stop worrying," he said with a slow shake of his head. "I'll trust you, I take your word for it that you can defend yourself but I can't help but worry when I know you're getting hurt every time." He pretty much lived in danger. "But I'll try my best." Audrey lightly squeezed the brunette's hand, trying to calm the urge to hug him again or even kiss him. He was glad to hear Kyou missed him in return and it showed when his features lit up some.
"Well, are there any cuts that need tending to again?" Might as well go about it lightheartedly. Kyou wouldn't stop this bad habit and Audrey knew it. "I'll help in any way possible." Guess that officially made him Kyou's personal nurse. The blonde reached up to the other's cheek, slender fingers ghosting lightly over the gash there. It looked like it was healing so everything else must've been too.

I could be mean, I could be angry You know, I could be just like you
At this point Kyou wasn't concerned with acting all tough and badass as much as he had been the first time he'd gotten beat up and Audrey found him. He didn't need to put up that front with him.. and he was sure Audrey appreciated that. He probably acted more like himself around his younger companion then he did with anyone else he'd ever known. The man fell silent for the moment, keeping Audrey's hand gently in his own, listening to him as he responded.
He'd kind of known that he'd get that reply, but it was better than a flat out 'no' and probably better than a 'yes' as well; it meant he really, really cared. Kyou liked that, Audrey was more than genuine with him. He gave a nod saying that that'd be okay and lifting Audrey's hand he gave the top of his hand a soft kiss before smiling at the boy. "Thank you."
Hopefully that little, or big, gesture would tell Audrey that his affections were definitely being returned even if he didn't show it quite as easily as the blonde did. He was definitely a bit more stoic about it. Finally, he shook his head at the question, actually glad to be able to tell him that he was actually quite fine and well tended to. "No, for the moment I'm all patched up." Kyou paused a moment before continuing, "But what you can do for me is keep me some company." He'd definitely like that. It was time to play catch up.

Audrey was glad to see the other smile at him, at his response; it was only the truth. His gaze casted down to their hands as Kyou lifted them, wide, blue eyes watching as those lips came in contact with the top of his hand. The blonde released a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding, expression soft. "Kyou..." His cheeks were basically glowing now, a bashfulness to his smile. Did this mean he had feelings, too? Kyou may not've expressed them as clearly all this time they'd known each other, but the kiss to his hand was surely a sign. A very adorable one at that.
The blonde was only a little surprised when the other mentioned his already bandaged condition. That was a first, not having to take care of Kyou's wounds for him. Then the subject changed and the boy pulled on a sincere smile when 'keeping him company' was mentioned. Audrey could handle that. Intertwining their fingers he headed in the direction of the park's exit, tugging lightly for the brunette to follow. "Alright. But just so you know while we're out, you're gonna owe me a lot," he said playfully. "Like a big, fancy dinner and dessert." And the list went on and on.
